WHAT IS MAC OS 8.6 MAC OS
Example:Ģ0GB HDD PARTITIONED 1/2/3: 8GB for OS X/7GB Mac OS 9/5GB Install DVD. The IDE Controller is limited in this regard. on Tray-Load Macs, you must install OS X in the FIRST partition and it must be 8GB or smaller. Do you recall if you have Revision a,B, C, or D?Įdit: Low End Mac is always a great resource tho they don’t have video tutorials.

The Tray-load iMacs, if I recall correctly were a bit of a basket case before the slot load. I’ve done this enough times in my life to do it in my sleep (after many sleepless teenage nights) let me find something that is easily to follow for that. even though the G3 iMacs have USB support, and come in an attractive all in one case and are arguably more historically significant, and software-wise can run everything the early 90s macs can. where people seem to jack up the prices on those.

G3 iMacs are super cool - glad they're at peak "junk" status right now. Nevertheless, I like the graphite slot loader and as a CRT enthusiast, I love to be able to look into them and see all of that, so I definitely see your point. And all of the slot loaders have some real brittle plastic inside holding the CRT, and the slot loading drives never work and need to be fixed. but I find the more fogged look and brighter colors it came in super attractive. Of course, I wish it had internal DVD support and faster graphics/CPU. not the other way around like I had thought. Like the G3's design definitely influenced the look of OSX. Nevertheless, OS9 looks pretty weird on the G3 even knowing it shipped with an even older 8.6. I found a cheap Blueberry Tray G3 and quickly realized OSX ran super slow while OS9 was buttery smooth. that that would be the "purest" way to experience OSX. Agreed! Actually I got my first G3 after I found a boxed copy of OSX 10.1 and was looking for something to run it and figured since the G3s looked sorta aqua-esque.
